Soaking Enzyme: Compound Enzyme for Leather Tanning Raw Hide Soaking
Product Description
Soaking Enzyme is a compound enzyme preparation composed of alkaline protease, lipase and other enzymes. It can effectively remove dirt on the hides surface and interfibrillary substances inside the hides to accelerate the soaking process.
Working Principle
There are usually three types of raw hides processed in tanneries: salted hides, dried hides and fresh hides. Raw hides lose moisture to varying degrees during preservation, storage and transportation. After dehydration, the collagen fibers of the hides will bond together, which makes it difficult for chemical materials to penetrate and act uniformly inside the hide in aqueous medium.
Therefore, the first process of leather tanning is soaking in water. During soaking process, on the one hand, dirt on the surface of raw hides needs to be removed; on the other hand, part of the interfibrillary substances inside the hide (such as mucoproteins including albumin, globulin, and chondroitin sulfate) should be eliminated, so that the dehydrated raw hides can fully absorb water and return to the fresh hide state.
Compared with the traditional soaking process, Soaking Enzyme can efficiently remove most non-structural proteins and dirt, promote the soaking process, and restore the hide to its natural swollen state. Soaking enzyme improves the soaking speed, the quality of pelts, and even the quality of the final leather products. In addition, biological soaking auxiliaries can replace chemical soaking auxiliaries and reduce the COD of wastewater.
Usage Instructions
Soaking enzyme is mainly used in the leather soaking process and can be used together with degreasing enzymes. It is widely applied in the soaking of various dried hides, salted wet hides and fresh hides.
To achieve better effect, an appropriate amount of soda ash can be added to adjust the PH value of the solution to 8–10. We recommend that small-scale tests must be carried out under the same actual production conditions before large-scale production, so as to avoid damage or adverse effects on hides caused by excessive dosage or different processes. Particularly for lower-quality hides, the treatment process and duration should be strictly controlled.
Precautions
Enzymes are protein-based substances. For sensitive individuals, inhalation of enzyme powder or droplets may case allergic reactions. Prolonged exposure may irritate the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. It is recommended to wear a face mask during operation. If the product accidentally splashes onto the skin or eyes, rinse immediately with clean water.
Package and Storage
Package Options: 25kg plastic drums or 1000kg IBC tanks or customized.
As a bioactive substance, the enzyme may deactivate under high temperature, strong acids, or strong alkalis. Therefore, avoid direct sunlight during transportation and storage. And After opening, reseal tightly to prevent enzyme deactivation. Keep in a clean, cool, and dry warehouse.
