Degreasing Enzyme – Eco-Friendly Degreasing Solution for High-Fat Hides
Product Description
Degreasing Enzyme is a blend of alkaline protease, lipase, amylase, and other enzyme preparations, offering exceptional degreasing and fat-dispersing performance.
Working Principle
Raw hides generally contain oils and fats, especially pigskin, sheepskin, and other high-fat hides. The presence of fat can hinder the penetration of chemicals in an aqueous medium into the hide, disrupting subsequent processes such as tanning, fatliquoring, dyeing, and finishing. Therefore, degreasing is essential for high-fat hides.
In the leather-making process, degreasing is a crucial step, as the degree of degreasing directly affects the quality of the finished leather. Traditional leather degreasing methods mainly include solvent degreasing, saponification, emulsification, and combinations thereof. Solvent degreasing provides good results but involves the use of organic solvents, which pose issues related to toxicity, operational safety and high costs. Saponification mainly targets surface degreasing but may not be fully effective. Emulsification is a commonly used method, but it requires large quantities of emulsifiers (sometimes exceeding 10% of the hide weight) when dealing with high-fat hides. The excessive use of emulsifiers can lead to environmental pollution and negatively impact the leather’s water resistance and fogging value.
As an eco-friendly biological degreasing agent, the degreasing enzyme can efficiently break down fats and oils, partially or fully replacing surfactants, organic solvents, and other chemical degreasers. When used in combination with soaking enzymes and liming enzymes, it not only efficiently decomposes fats but also enhances the effectiveness of soaking and liming processes.
Usage Instructions
Degreasing Enzyme can be used in soaking, degreasing, liming, deliming and softening processes. It can be added directly without dissolving. We recommend that a small-scale test must be conducted under the same production and operation environment before large-scale production. This will avoid damage and impact on animal hides due to excessive dosage or different processes. Especially for leathers of slightly lower quality, the processing process and time must be mastered.
Precautions
Enzymes are protein-based substances. For sensitive individuals, inhalation of enzyme powder or droplets may case allergic reactions. Prolonged exposure may irritate the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. It is recommended to wear a face mask during operation. If the product accidentally splashes onto the skin or eyes, rinse immediately with clean water.
Package and Storage
Package Options: 25kg plastic drums or 1000kg IBC tanks or customized.
As a bioactive substance, the enzyme may deactivate under high temperature, strong acids, or strong alkalis. Therefore, avoid direct sunlight during transportation and storage. And After opening, reseal tightly to prevent enzyme deactivation. Keep in a clean, cool, and dry warehouse.
