Product Detail

Cost-Saving Papermaking Sizing Enzyme - Replace Modified Starch, Enhance Paper Strength

Product Description

Sizing enzyme can break down the viscosity of starch granules, making starch easier to be added to pulp and promoting the bonding between fibers, thus enhancing the strength and hardness of paper. It can be used directly to treat ordinary starch for papermaking sizing to meet the requirements of paper surface sizing, replacing modified starch and thereby reducing production costs.

Working Principle

The reaction of amylase with starch is a biological modification process. When the gelatinization temperature is reached, the starch slurry starts to become viscous; under the action of amylase, the fluidity of the starch slurry increases rapidly with a corresponding decrease in viscosity. When a certain viscosity is achieved and the temperature is raised above 95℃, the amylase loses its activity, the viscosity reduction stops and remains stable. Using amylase for papermaking allows for arbitrary adjustment of viscosity values on the production site according to production requirements, offering unparalleled flexibility compared with oxidized modified starch.

Features and Benefits

1. Directly processes ordinary starch to replace modified starch and other viscosity reducers;

2. Improves the smoothness and surface strength of finished paper, reduces the phenomenon of shedding of fibers and powder on the paper surface, and enhances the printability of finished paper;

3. Simple operation process, stable product performance, no pollution, and avoids equipment corrosion;

4. Increases the glue loading of the glue solution and reduces pulp consumption.

Usage Instructions

1. Add clean water and starch into a cooking tank and stir evenly, then add amylase for papermaking and stir thoroughly;

2. Introduce steam to start cooking and control the heating curve according to the required viscosity;

3. After reaching 95℃, maintain the temperature for 15-20 minutes to inactivate the amylase;

4. Control the temperature at 55-65℃; For special cases, adjust according to the manufacturer’s instructions;

5. Dosage of sizing enzyme: 50-150 ml per ton of absolutely dry starch. The optimal dosage shall be determined through tests based on actual conditions. The continuous cooking process is basically the same as the intermittent one.

Precautions

Enzymes are protein-based substances. Prolonged exposure may irritate the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. It is recommended to wear a face shield for protection during operation. If the product accidentally splashes onto the skin or eyes, please immediately rinse with clean water.

Package and Storage

The liquid is packaged in 25kg plastic drums or 1000kg IBC tanks or customized.

As a bioactive substance, the enzyme may deactivate under high temperature, strong acids, or strong alkalis. Therefore, avoid direct sunlight during transportation and storage. And After opening, reseal tightly to prevent enzyme deactivation. Keep in a clean, cool, and dry warehouse.
